Answering God's Calls

The secret to a life of significance does not lie in asking "What singular purpose does God have for me?", nor "What great things will He lead me to do?" but is answered in "What am I doing with my life?" God calls us to Christian responsibility, to Christ-likeness, and this humble common purpose is undoubtedly most glorifying to God.

Instead of asking God, "What is Your will for my life?", as most of us often do when approaching the subject of the will of God, it is more appropriate and biblically more accurate to ask, "Lord, what is Your will?" I'm not just talking about the difference between the general and specific will/call of God, but more of the emphasis and perspective that we take. Ultimately, it is God's will (most of which can be found in His commands and instructions in His Word), and not the "for me" part, which reflects the self-seeking, ego-centric nature that we often default to.
